What is it about?

QUEST is being developed by students of the university of Würzburg as a project in the field of spacetechnology. It scans the planet surface by analysing an array of four light sources (RGB and IR) and a spectrometer. As a result, the experiment should produce an overview image of the surface with marked areas depending on the type of it.

This project is part of the REXUS/BEXUS program and is realized under an agreement between the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Swedish National Space Board (SNSB).

How does it work?

QUEST is an autonomous multisensoric platform within the requirements of nanosatellites. This platform should be able to combine and process different sensor inputs to distinguish between various landscapes and space.

We are working hard on getting the parts assembled and put together, after finishing the design phase. PCBs are produced and the software is integrated in the setup. Our next step is the Experiment Acceptance Review in mid of September.

We will fly our experiment on the 12th of September from the Esrange Space Center in Kiruna, Sweden.
